Ernie is our smart AI accounting assistant, available through your Ernest & Co account and subscription. Ask Ernie questions about VAT, bookkeeping, HMRC rules and more — powered by real accounting knowledge and live web search.
How do I access Ernie AI?+
Ernie AI is available through an Ernest & Co account and subscription. Free, Growth and Premium subscribers can access Ernie AI according to their plan limits. Accounting clients may also access Ernie AI depending on their assigned subscription tier and entitlement.
What is the Client Portal?+
The secure Client Portal is separate from the subscriber area and is reserved for invited Ernest & Co accounting clients. It's where you share documents, track deadlines, message our team and access your financial reports. Access is by invitation only as part of an accounting engagement — it is not included with a Free, Growth or Premium subscription on its own.
Do I need a subscription to use Ernie?+
Free accounts include a limited number of introductory Ernie AI questions. Growth includes 30 Ernie AI questions per month. Premium includes unlimited Ernie AI questions and the full Knowledge Hub.
Can you switch us from our existing accountant?+
Yes — we manage the entire transition for you, including professional clearance and software handover. It's hassle-free.
Which cloud accounting software do you support?+
Xero and QuickBooks. We're certified partners and can recommend the best fit for your business.
Are you HMRC and Companies House registered?+
Yes. We are fully qualified, registered and Making Tax Digital compliant.
